Just as
Anthony Joshua is enthusiastic to face American boxing champ, Deontay Wilder is also looking forward to meeting the Nigerian-Brit within the confines of a ring and the American believes the fight will either happen in September or November this year.
Another similarity between both heavyweights is that the have both don’t know what it is to be defeated in the ring.
Wilder in defending his WBC heavyweight belt against Luis Ortiz in March, took his unbeaten record to 40-0 (39KOs), while Joshua in the same month fought his 21st fight (20KOs) against Joseph Parker to add the New Zealander’s WBO strap to his existing WBA and IBF titles.
Joshua and Wilder in a ring would mean a World Heavyweight unification bout, and the winner would be the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000.
“If we have it [the fight] in England, it’ll be September but if it’s here in America then it’ll be November. We’re still in negotiations so I don’t have a time frame on it just yet but I want to let everybody to know the fight will happen.
“If they’re still serious, we’ve been serious this whole way through, Joshua said he wanted the $50 million and he’d sign tomorrow. We did exactly what he said and he didn’t sign so that shows you his character already or his team’s character. I think Joshua wants to fight but I don’t think his team want to risk what they’ve invested. Their investment is about to go and they know it.”
