World Boxing Council champion, Deontay Wilder, claims he is yet to receive an offer from the camp of Anthony Joshua for a fight at the Wembley Stadium in April.

Just last week, Matchroom boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, said he had made clear offers to Wilder and sent him a number of unanswered emails concerning an undisputed championship fight at the Wembley.

It goes without saying that Joshua may not be getting the big fight he seeks for the final heavyweight title, at least not from Wilder any time soon.

“I don’t know, I honestly don’t know, I’ve been so busy, it’s been crazy. When these guys come with real offers, they know what we want.

“I ain’t trying to play around with nothing. Come straight, come correct and come direct. If it ain’t right then we don’t wanna entertain it and that’s the bottom line.” — Wilder said about Joshua’s offer.

The WBC champion has his hands full with his next fight against linear men’s champion, Tyson Fury. Wilder and Fury ended their last encounter in December, in a controversial draw and both men want to put an end to rumours on which one of them is the better fighter.

Having been hit with a brick-wall in negotiations with the American boxer, Hearn has turned his gaze to British boxer, Dillian Whyte, for a rematch of Joshua and Whyte’s 2015 bout in April. However, even this is quite uncertain as reports are rife about Whyte’s cold disapproval of Hearn’s terms, and is seeking a new promoter.

Without a clear opponent, Joshua may yet cancel his fight at the Wembley and wait for a mandatory challenger from one of the world boxing governing bodies.
