Anthony Joshua is currently the biggest scrapper in World boxing, and everyone, including the little guys in the sport, want a shot at him. Since wishes are not horses, only two guys – Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury – stand a chance of meeting the unified world heavyweight champion in a ring anytime soon. Joshua holds the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles, and he is hoping to make history when he beats either Wilder or Fury in an undisputed fight next year, for the last belt in the heavyweight division. Wilder will stake his WBC belt against Fury on December 1st, to determine who the second strongest man in boxing truly is. If Fury succeeds in beating Wilder — which is most unlikely — all four heavyweight titles will belong to England and Joshua will undoubtedly snatch the belt if-and-when they meet in April next year. If Wilder, however, retains his belt, a decision would have to be reached on when and where both men will fight. Joshua and Wilder’s promoters have been in negotiations for a very long time, and its quite clear that the problem is not if both men want to fight, but rather, how much each side stands to make from the fight. Meanwhile, Scottish trainer, Billy Nelson, is hopeful that one day soon his prodigy, Martin Bankole, will get a chance to challenge the world’s best.
Realistically Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder want to fight Joshua because of a specific reason. That is because he has got all the belts bar one – you want to win all the belts don’t you? You are not a bit-part player, you are a full-part player and you want all the belts.” — Nelson
Bankole may win himself a chance to face the champ if he takes on a top-10 opponent and emerges victorious. The junior boxer will take on on Hunter at the York Hall, London, on Saturday, 13th October 2018.
