You might agree that Anthony Joshua is the biggest boxer in the world right now.
The British-Nigerian currently holds three out of four heavyweight titles and has done well enough to defend his right to hold onto his belts time and time again. However, Deontay Wilder, who holds only one heavyweight title, World Boxing Council heavyweight, thinks Joshua is a coward for not facing him head-on in an undisputed heavyweight bout.
Joshua and Wilder were in talks for a big fight well before Alexander Povetkin came on the scene, but no agreements were reached for a fight, hence, Joshua had to face Povetkin in a title defense bout.
After he defeated the Russian at Wembley stadium in London last month, Joshua has frequently stated that he would like to face the WBC champion in his next fight.
It would seem Wilder didn’t get the memo as the American still takes joy in cursing Joshua and branding him a coward for not fighting him before Povetkin.
“You are a coward, and you know this, your team knows this. Every last one of you saying things over again, you manipulated it, you conjured it. You are compulsive liars.”
— Wilder (Good Morning Britain)
Wilder will stake his WBC title against Tyson Fury on December 1 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, to defend his right to take a shot at the unified world champion, Joshua.
