Here are 5 avoidable habits that cause wrinkles to appear faster than they should.

Your Diet Is Unhealthy

A constant diet high in carbohydrates can lead to premature ageing because it causes inflammation in the body. When parts of the body are constantly inflamed, the skin flares up and begins to wrinkle. Adding more whole foods to your diet can improve your immune system and slow down the ageing process. Start eating fruits, vegetables, and fatty fish, which are packed with nutrients that promote healthy skin and reduce wrinkles.

You Have Bad Posture

Bad posture sets the spine out of alignment. As a result, the muscles and bones become tense. This can lead to a lot of pain and fatigue which may cause permanent deformity and make you look older than your age. Try to always maintain a good posture – shoulders back, stomach in, and neutral head level.

You’re Always Stressed

Studies have shown that stress can alter your DNA and thus, speed up the ageing process. Find ways to minimise stress caused by work, family, or relationship. You can unwind through activities such as walking, reading a book, or meditating.

You Watch Too Much TV

If you are a couch potato, you may be increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease and other age-related ailments. Research shows every hour spent watching TV decreases life expectancy by 22 minutes. Whether you’re at a desk or seated in your leaving room, it is recommended that you get up every half hour to walk.

You’re Always Sleep-Deprived

Not catching enough sleep does not only affect your energy level but can also shorten your lifespan. Adults need to get at least 7 hours of sleep per night. Make sleep a priority by cutting unproductive activities and managing your time more efficiently. Source: Eatthis Everyday Health Featured Image Source: Medical News Today
