ASTON VILLA 2-2 WEST BROM
Nigerian International striker, Peter Osaze Odemiwigie played all 90 minutes, grabbing a goal in the process. The controversial striker who was dropped by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi for AFCON, was terrific in this game, going close twice before scoring what proved to be the important equaliser for his team.
Nigerian-born England International, Gabriel Agbonlahor also played and scored in this fixture.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 1-2 READING
Johann Cabaye scored on his return from injury for Newcastle but a second-half double from Adam le Fondre turned the game on its head for Reading. Shola Ameobi was restored to the Newcastle line up after serving his suspension for the dismissal against Brighton in the FA cup while his younger brother, Sammy settled for a place on the bench. Hope Akpan finally made his debut for the Royals when he was thrown into the game in place of Jason McCleary on 64minutes.
WEST HAM 1-1 QPR
Carlton Cole and West Ham entertained Premier league strugglers, QPR at Upton Park. The Nigerian-born England International was brought on in place of on-loan striker, Marouane Chamakh in the 62nd minute as his team pushed on for an equaliser after Loic Remy scored on his debut for Rangers. Nedum Onuoha played the whole 90minutes for Harry ‘Arry’ Redknapp’s men.
CHELSEA 2-1 ARSENAL
Chelsea entertained Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday without their Nigerian duo, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses yet again. Chelsea were pleasing on the eye in the first half, going two goals up within 18 minutes courtesy of Juan Mata’s sublime finish and a Frank Lampard penalty. This goal sees Frank Lampard become Chelsea’s all time second high goal scorer on 195goals, 7 short of the record-202.
Theo Walcott grabbed a consolation goal for the Gunners in the second half.
SOUTHAMPTON v EVERTON
Victor Anichebe’s Everton travel to St Mary’s stadium today to take on Southampton, who surprisingly sacked their coach, Nigel Adkins on Friday and replaced him with former Espanol boss, Mauricio Pochettino.
This harsh decision was condemned by all football lovers who wished nothing but relegation for Southampton as punishment for discarding a manager after series of good results.
The kick-off is 21:00 (Nigerian Time).
