West Bromwich Albion Striker, Osaze Peter Odemwigie was the hero on Saturday when he headed in a cross – into net – for a winner against Chelsea at the Hawthorns. West Brom started the game with aplomb, Irish striker, Shane Long opened the scoring with a close range header after Chelsea defender, David Luiz was absentminded. Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses were in the starting line up as Roberto Di Matteo rested a number of players for their midweek make or break Champions League tie with Juventus. Chelsea pulled one back via Eden Hazard. The game ended 2-1.
Recently capped Eagle, Shola Ameobi and his Newcastle United team lost at home to Swansea City for the first time in 32 years. Michu and Julian De Guzman scored for the visitors before Demba Ba pulled one back.
Victor Anichebe’s Everton surprisingly lost to Reading at the Madjeski stadium. Scot, Steven Naismith gave the Toffees an early lead before a Le Fondre brace put the game to bed. Victor Anichebe didn’t make the squad list for the game.
Nedum Onuoha’s Queens Park Rangers abysmal start to the season continued Saturday as they lost to fellow strugglers, Southampton – at home. The loss leaves them rooted to the bottom of the EPL table. Nedum Onuoha was missing on QPR list for the game.
