 By Arinze Ude. Nigerian-born, Nedum Onuoha, came on as a second half substitute for Armand Traore after the latter picked up an injury in their 1-nil loss against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta saved Arsenal’s blushes after QPR lost Stephan Mbia to a red card for a rush of blood to the head. Carlton Uzoma Cole also came on as a substitute in his side’s 2-1 loss against the Lactics at DW Stadium. Newcastle United’s Shola Ameobi’s shot deflected off Papiss Cisse for the latter’s first goal of the season and to give his team a 2 -1 win against Peter Osaze Odemwigie’s West Browmwich Albion. Shola’s brother, Sammy didn’t play in the match. Chelsea took on Manchester United in the clash of the weekend. The game started in a frantic pace, which saw United take an early lead through a David Luiz own-goal. They added a second through Robin van Persie. Chelsea hit back, grabbing a goal just before half time through a beautifully struck Juan Mata’s freekick. The comeback was complete when Ramires rose above Tom Cleverley to head past David de Gea in United’s goal. Branislav Ivanovic was then given his marching orders for clipping and obstructing Ashley Young from a goal scoring opportunity before Fernando Torres was given his second yellow and an early bath for what seemed like a dive but replays showed he was clipped by Johnny Evans. This disrupted the flow of the game and the controversy was compounded when Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez poked in a late winner for United from an offside position. After the match, Chelsea lodged a complaint to the FA, accusing the match official, Mark Clattenburg of racist slur against two of their players, Nigeria’s Mikel John Obi and Spanish maestro, Juan Mata. However, Mikel maintained he didn’t hear any racist comment made towards him by the referee during the game but his team mate let him know what had been said.
