City recovered from the shaky start to record a resounding victory courtesy of goals from Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure.
WEST BROM 0-2 SWANSEA CITY
Osaze Odewingie was left out of the match squad for Swansea’s visit. The striker, who has been rumoured to be on his way to the Welsh club, has been on the fringe of the team since his ill-fated attempt to move to Queens Park Rangers last January. Swansea’s boss Michael Laudrup is hoping to finalise the deal before the transfer window closes today.
Ben Davies and Pablo Hernandez sealed the first win of the new campaign for the Swans.
LIVERPOOL 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
Victor Moses was on hand to see his soon-to-be side defeat their fiercest rivals, Manchester United at the Kop on Sunday. Moses was there with other imminent new signings, Tiago Illoris and Mamadou Sakho to see Daniel Sturridge score his third goal in three games.
CARDIFF CITY 0-0 EVERTON
Everton’s Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe couldn’t make the team for the trip to the Welsh capital. Anichebe has seen himself lose his place in the team since the arrival of Aruna Kone and Gerard Deulofeu from Wigan Athletic and FC Barcelona respectively. West Brom have put in a bid for Anichebe as a replacement for the departing Osaze.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 1-0 FULHAM
The Ameobi brothers were on the squad for the Fulham game, with Shola starting the game and Sammy on the bench. Yoann Gouaffran replaced Shola in the 65th minute of the match as Newcastle looked for the winner. French winger, Hatem Ben Arfa produced a moment of brilliance to give his side the maximum points.
