Nigerian national U-17 women’s football team qualified for the third round of the 2022 U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers after beating DR Congo 5-0 in Benin City. The first leg of the encounter ended 3-0 in favour of the Nigerians as Bankole Olowookere’s girls qualified with an 8-0 aggregate. Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen continued with his blistering form for league title-chasing Napoli with a brace in their 2-1 Serie A win over Udinese on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Diego Amando Maradona Stadium. Osimhen’s goals ensured that Napoli stayed 3 points behind league leaders AC Milan, and 3 points ahead of third-placed Inter Milan. In the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Rivers United remained top of the table after a convincing 4-1 home win over champions Akwa United at the Adokiye Amasiemeka Stadium on Sunday, March 20, 2022. A penalty strike from Ishaq Rafiu put the home side ahead in the fifth minute of the encounter before a hat-trick from Chijioke Akuneto all but sealed victory before halftime. Akwa United would get a consolation goal from Austin Osayande in the 60th minute of the encounter.

Plateau United ensured they kept the title race tight after an impressive 2-0 win over Sunshine Stars at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday. The Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side won the encounter courtesy of goals from Mohammed Zulkifilu and Haggai Katoh.
