Super Falcons of Nigeria captain Asisat Oshoala made the headlines in Spain after scoring a hat-trick for FC Barcelona Femini in their 4-0 thrashing of Real Betis in the Spanish Primera Division on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Oshoala scored in the 18th, 36th and 44th minutes of the game to prove that she is fully back to form after a long injury lay-off. In the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Rivers United maintained the top spot on the league summit after a 1-1 away draw against Remo Stars on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Andy Okpe gifted Remo the lead in just ten minutes from the start, while Chijioke Akuneto equalized for the visitors in the 43rd minute of the game. Both sides remain unbeaten in the 2021/2022 NPFL season with 19 points each, but Rivers occupy the top spot due to superior goal difference.

Plateau United beat visiting Abia Warriors 1-0 on Sunday courtesy of a 67th-minute strike from Albert Hillary. League champions Akwa United recorded their first away win of the season after beating Niger Tornadoes 1-0 on Sunday. Leo Ezekiel scored the winning goal for the visitors in the 66th minute of the game. 3SC Shooting Stars of Ibadan also recorded their first away win of the season after beating MFM FC 1-0 in the South West derby on Sunday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos State.
