A lot of Nigerians are making their mark in Hollywood this year, and some leaving larger footprints than others.
One of those people who has put Nigerian film industry on the map is Freda Steffl.
Alexandra
Freda is the producer and lead actor of the new film, Alexandra, which tells the story of an innocent online meeting between a young Nigerian lady Alexandra and an American, Kevin, which soon becomes a gripping nightmare, suffocating her dreams of finding love as she struggles to survive.
Alexander is torn between deciding to fight for her life and having her voice silenced forever.
The film stars Hollywood’s Vivica A. Fox and Rob Hayes alongside Nollywood’s Joseph Benjamin, Ada Ameh (Emu of The Johnsons TV drama). The film was produced by Freda Steffl with her her husband as executive producer and inputs from her sister Martina Efimue, who was responsible for the story.
Freda
Freda Steffl was born Freda Efimue in 1989 to Nigerian parents;Daniel O.Efimue and Queen Akerete D. Efimue of Sapele, Nigeria. Freda’s early involvement in acting was as a church girl where she acted in church plays, sang in the junior choir and was a member of a dance group which danced for famous Nigerian artistes. She left Nigeria for the US after high school, and there she got married to Jeremy Steffl and built a thriving career. As a veteran (having enlisted in the US Army soon after arrival), she continues to serve as a role model.
The movie premiered in Atlanta and will be available in Nigerian cinemas on the 4th of May 2018.
