2019 was one of the most eventful years of the last decade when it comes to Nollywood movies. It gave us Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, the sequel to Living in Bondage 1 & 2, and other exciting movies that made movie lovers troop into the cinemas in their numbers.

According to the National Film and Video Censors Board, Nigerian movies generated about N6.4bn and N6.7bn at cinemas nationwide in 2019. This is an indication that quite an impressive number of movies were released in the cinemas. However, a few stood out both for the staggering revenues they generated and also for their sensational plots and actors.
