Super Eagles of Nigeria shot-stopper Francis Uzoho, on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, underwent scan following the knee injury he sustained while on national duty with the Super Eagles against Brazil on Sunday, October 13, 2019, a game which ended 1-1. The game which was held at the Singapore National Stadium saw Uzoho stretched off the pitch. Uzoho, 20, is facing a long layoff as a result of the injury. Result of the scan conducted on Wednesday showed that the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner with the Golden Eaglets suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. The Nigerian first choice goalkeeper who is currently plying his trade with Cyprus club, Omonia Nicosia has received messages of support on and off the field from his team mates and fans. Omonia Nicosia in a press release wished the Eagles goalkeeper speedy recovery.

Uzoho who manned the post for Nigeria during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has made 16 appearances for the Super Eagles, and is currently on loan at Omonia Nicosia from Spanish club, Deportivo La Coruna. The time frame for Uzoho’s stay on the sidelines was not disclosed by his club.
