Esther Agbaje, 35, vied for elections under the platform of the Democratic Farmer Labour Party affiliated to the Democratic Party and won a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives after gaining 17,396 votes (74.7% of votes) to win a landslide over closest rival, Alan Shilepsky of the Republican Party who had 4,126 votes (17.7% of votes). With this victory, Agbaje in the 134 member Minnesota House, will serve as a Representative for District 59B.

Esther AgbajeEsther Agbaje is daughter to a Nigerian migrant, Rev. John, (an Episcopal Church priest) who hails from Ekiti State, Nigeria. She was born in St. Paul, the capital of Minnesota. Aside from earning a bachelorâs degree in Political Science from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C, Agbaje also boasts a masterâs degree in Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Minnesota House of Representatives member-elect also commands a law degree from the prestigious Havard University. Agbaje who once served as a foreign affairs officer at the US Department of State currently works as an attorney in Minneapolis. Her focus is on civil litigation and medical malpractice. On his part, Nnamdi Chukwuocha, a 49-year-old Nigerian-American politician and poet, who was elected into the Delaware House of Representatives in 2018 to represent District 1, was reelected as he won 100% of votes (7,640 votes) because he had no opposition. Nnamdi who is a veteran of the US Army, commands a bachelorâs degree in history and a masterâs degree from the Delaware State University. With several years of experience in local politics, Nnamdi, former President Pro Tempore and Chair of the Education, Youth and Families Committee in the Wilmington City Council, served as a member of the Education Committee, Corrections Committee, Veterans Affairs Committee (as a US Army veteran), Health & Human Development Committee, and Vice-Chair of the Transportation/Land Use and Infrastructure Committee in 2019. Alongside his twin brother, Nnamdi is part of the popular ââTwin Poets,ââ that were appointed as 17th Poets Laureate for the State of Delaware.
