Vicky Umodu who is a granny said God has given her everything she has asked for, there was no need to steal another person’s money.
Nigerians in Diaspora have always defied the odds to prove that Nigeria is a nation filled with great and trustworthy people. The story of a California-based Nigerian woman Vicky Umodu is a great example of Nigerians in Diaspora leading the pace for other countries to follow.
Vicky after moving into her new home in Colton needed to furnish her new apartment. While in search of cheap furniture, she bumped into a free furniture giveaway but unknowing to the owners, thousands of dollars were stuffed in the couch which the Nigerian woman had gotten freely.
“I just moved in, and I don’t have anything in my house,’’the Nigerian woman said.
“I was so excited, so we picked it (free couch) up and brought it in.’’
When Vicky noticed there was a lump of envelopes on the furniture, she decided to check through and found out it was a large amount of cash. To the surprise of many, she decided to return every amount she had seen despite not having a lot of money at her disposal. In the end, the money was discovered to be $36,000 in cash.
“I was just telling my son, come, come, come! I was screaming, this is money! I need to call the guy,’’
Vicky Umodu said while recalling how she saw the money.
In a show of appreciation, the owners of the couch gifted the Nigerian 2,200 dollars to buy a new refrigerator. An excited and appreciative Vicky Umodu said: “I was not expecting a dime.’’
