NIGERIA 2-3 PORTUGAL John Obuh’s boys started their World Cup campaign with a loss against the Iberian nation. Nigerian captain Abdul Ajagun scored a brace to level scores at 2-2 after being 2-0 down at half-time but it wasn’t enough to prevent his side from losing to the Portuguese. Portuguese winger Bruma scored twice, either side of Aladje’s strike to earn the victory. All of Africa’s representative suffered a defeat in their opening games at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey except Mali. Ghana and Egypt were also defeated by France and Chile respectively.
