The 2026 United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOSA)/Japan Long-term Fellowship Program is currently accepting applications. This collaborative initiative between the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and Japan’s Government, working alongside Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), offers a specialised fellowship program focused on nano-satellite technologies. The program specifically targets citizens from developing countries and nations without established space programs, providing comprehensive research opportunities in nano-satellite systems using Kyutech’s advanced development and testing facilities.

Program Requirements

The “Post-graduate study on Nano-Satellite Technologies (PNST)” Fellowship Program offers positions for:

  • A maximum of three Master’s degree candidates (2-year program duration).
  • A maximum of three Doctoral degree candidates (3-year program duration).
  • Fellowship recipients will earn their master’s or doctoral degrees upon successful completion and defence of their thesis.
  • Accepted candidates must enrol in the Space Engineering International Course (SEIC) and successfully pass the official entrance examination conducted by Kyushu Institute of Technology’s Graduate School of Engineering.

Program Benefits

Selected fellows will receive comprehensive support, including:

Financial Support

Monthly stipend of approximately 144,000 JPY throughout the fellowship period (2-3 years) through the Japanese government scholarship program (MEXT – Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) for Research Students.

This allowance covers accommodation, meals, local transport, and additional living expenses.

Economy class airfare between an international airport in the candidate’s home country and a designated international airport in Japan, following the route specified by MEXT.

Full coverage of registration fees, tuition costs, and entrance examination fees by Kyutech
