Universities That Accept And Offer Provisional Admissions To Second Choice Candidates From JAMB

Over the past few years, it has been a norm for most Universities, not to accept second choice candidates even if they scored the highest score in the UTME and post UTME. Some of the possible reasons postulated have usually been that the Universities do not like being regarded as second choice, which implies that the candidate already has a better choice than them. Also, it is downgrading for these institutions to be regarded only as ‘an options’. As a result, JAMB had strongly advised candidates from choosing other universities as second choices, in order to increase their chances of admission into the university. Recently however, Jamb reversed its decision which barred candidates from choosing any university as a second choice and allowed some few selected institutions to be selected as a second choice.

Though not all universities have been cleared by jamb to accept second choice candidate, the following Universities that provide this opportunity are for certain, open to admitting second choice students, given that they do not discriminate against first and second choice candidates anymore.

This article serves to provide candidates and prospective applicants with a clear guide to choosing the tertiary institutions they would desire to study in, especially if they have more than an option of a suitable university to study at.

While it is also very important to note that not all universities accept second choice candidate; with some accepting purchases for post-UTME screening and eventually still sidelining their second choice candidates, the following universities or institutions however, are reliably open to all second choice candidate that apply to them.
