Many take adequate and proper care of other areas of their body but they neglect their gums and teeth. What they forget is that the mouth is an essential part of the body as one cannot have good general health without proper oral health. Healthy teeth contributes to good eating habits, good support for cheeks and lips, overall speech and appearance. It should however be noted that anyone who wishes to conceive should take care of their oral health. The impact of oral hygiene as an important factor for enhanced fertility cannot be wished away. Due to this, priority has been given by Unilever Nigeria PLC as it channels an undisclosed amount of funds into the eradication of dental diseases.
The Brand Manager of Pepsodent (Unilever Nigeria Plc), disclosed that relationship exists between oral health and fertility which can result in health issues such as dental caries, gingivitis/ periodontitis, delay in getting pregnant, low/ zero sperm count, miscarriages, low birth weight, premature delivery among many others.
Since the health of Nigerians is paramount, Unilever is therefore  partnering with the Nigerian Dental Association and other stakeholders to provide awareness on the importance of maintaining good health.
