  UNESCO is currently recruiting young education advocates for the next generation of the SDG4 Youth & Student Network for the 2026-2027 term.

The SDG4 Youth & Student Network brings together young education leaders who are committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). Under UNESCO’s management, this global community enables youth participation in educational policy development, advocacy initiatives, and innovative projects. Members collaborate through various engagement opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and joint ventures aimed at promoting accessible, equitable, high-quality education for everyone.

Participation Information

  • Members join as individuals for a two-year commitment spanning January 2026 through December 2027
  • Selected applicants will participate in preliminary activities with current members during October-December 2025

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:
  1. Be between 16 and 30 years of age
  2. Currently serve as an active member in a non-profit, non-governmental youth or student organisation related to SDG4-Education 2030
  3. Demonstrate active involvement in SDG4-Education 2030-related fields
  4. Have no conflicts of interest as defined in the Network Code of Conduct (such as government positions or employment with for-profit entities that could create conflicts)
  5. Membership involves no fees or compensation. Joining does not establish employment with UNESCO or grant rights to use UNESCO’s name or logo.

Selection Timeline

The upcoming cohort will include 60-100 members, selected through this process:
  1. May-July 2025: Application period
  2. July-August 2025: Application review by Selection Committee (comprising UNESCO staff, volunteer Network Executive Committee members, and at least one observer from another UN youth-focused organisation)
September 2025: Results notification

Selection Criteria

The committee will evaluate applications based on:
  1. Demonstrated interest and expertise in education and sustainable development at the grassroots level
  2. Leadership capabilities
  3. Active community or educational institution engagement
  4. Willingness to commit to the full two-year term
  5. Contribution to diversity, inclusion, and geographical/gender balance
