Nigerian national U-23 team have been drawn alongside South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia in the Group B of the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup Of Nations scheduled to hold in Egypt from November 8 to 22nd November, 2019.

Host nation, Egypt were drawn in the Group A along with Mali, Cameroon, and Ghana. The draw which was held on the eve of Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the plush Montaza Complex in Alexandria was conducted by CAF director of competitions, Samson Adamu and ex-Egypt striker Emad Meteab. Nigeria won the first edition of the tournament in 2015, and will be up against South Africa who finished third in the 2015 edition.

The preliminary round matches are slated to hold at the Cairo International Stadium, and Al Salaam Stadium, Cairo. Group A matches will be held at the Cairo International Stadium, while the Group B matches will hold at the Al Salaam Stadium. Defending Champions, Nigeria, must navigate their way to the semi-final to stand a chance of finishing in the top three which equally serves as the ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The top three teams at the tournament will represent Africa at the Olympics cum 2020. Egypt will confront Mali on November 8, 2019 in what would be the opening game of the continental showpiece. Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles will face Cote d’l voire on November 9, 2019 for their first group game.
