Ibadan is the third most popular city in Nigeria. An amala heaven, it is said that a trip to Ibadan is not complete without sampling the amala ati ewedu the city has to offer. This list is compiled in no particular order and a visit to any of these joints will definitely be a worthwhile experience.

Inastrait Food Canteen

Located at Cultural Center Road, Mokola Hill, Ibadan, this canteen was established in the 70’s by Alhaja Akanke of blessed memory and has continued to cook tasty meals since then. Inastrait has two more branches, one at the Polytechnic Ibadan and another at Iwo Road near Arisekola Central Mosque. The interior decor of the canteen combines both the design of a bukka setting and a tinge of a modern restaurant. The main menu is amala and ewedu.

OseOlohun/Skye Amala

This is most probably the most popular amala joint in Ibadan. It is located along the Bodija-UI Road. It’s proximity to the Skye Bank branch there earned it the alias Skye Amala or Skye Lolo.  The joint is very popular among UI students and, of course, bank officials.? The interior of this particular joint has nothing fancy; if at all you go to a joint for aesthetic reasons you’ll be disappointed. But they serve great amala as the place is always bustling with customers.

Mama Ope

Mama Ope is located at Virtual House, Jemibewon Sago Road, Mokola Hill, Ibadan. This restaurant has been in service for over 15 years. Its decor is modern and chic and accented with fanciful designs. It has 3 sections –  the VIP lounge, the floor and the hall. Their main dishes also include ofada rice and peppered sauce.

Ola Mummy

Located at Secretariat-Agodi Road, OjuIrin, Bodija Ibadan, Ola Mummy is known to prepare tasty and affordable meals. The restaurant is located near an auto-mechanic workshop, so you can have both your car and your hunger fixed.
