Tolu Adeleru-Balogun was one of the facilitators at the ongoing broadcasting training organised by Onimisi Adaba. On the second day of training, she spoke on the etiquette rules every OAP must follow. Below is the list: 1. Create a Unique Selling Point (USP): Strive to be unique at what you do. You have to be known for something. 2. Clean up your studio: A clean studio not only gives you a clean working space but a clean working brain also. Do not wait until you have a special to start scrambling around to clean up; make it a habit to do so every time you go on air. 3. Introduce yourself: When you come on air, introduce yourself and give a brief information on what you wish to discuss then gradually ease and transition each of those topics rather than bombarding your listeners with too much information all at once. 4. Always wear your earphones: It is very important that you hear yourself, hear what your listeners are listening to, in order to be really sure you are on the same page. Although most stations provide headphones at the studio, always have your spare in such cases where you are unable to lay your hand on one at the studio. 5. Always plan your show: This is not about having a word-for-word write-up on every thing you will be saying for each show, rather it is about always having a theme that guides you throughout the show. Refrain from just winging it on your show. 6. Be prepared: Don’t go into your show cramming, unaware and unprepared. It is important to prepare adequately for your show and also be prepared for the unexpected. There are times where you have your show all planned and prepared and then there’s a breaking story at the exact hour you are on air. You might be required to do something on the spot, so it is very important to be versed in what you do by reading more and following sources that give current and genuine information. 7. Stay alert: Do not take alcohol before going on air!       About the Writer: Eniola Adeniji is a woman after God’s own heart, a motivational Writer, Speaker, Fashion and Photography addict.
