Incognito mode or private mode is a feature mostly seen on web browsers and lets people disable their internet history. On YouTube, it allows users disable their watch and YouTube search history, thus, preventing certain kind of content from appearing on their YouTube timeline. YouTube incognito mode is now available on Android devices. For the users of iOS devices and YouTube’s web version, the incognito mode is yet to arrive.

How to enable YouTube Incognito Mode on your Android smartphone

  1. Download the latest version of the YouTube mobile app or make sure you have the latest update installed on your Android smartphone.
  2. To turn on YouTube Incognito mode, tap on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen. Now, click on “Turn on Incognito” option.
  3. A message dialog will appear next explaining the implications of turning off incognito mode. YouTube incognito mode won’t hide your YouTube activity from your ISP or any organization monitoring your internet.

How to disable YouTube Incognito Mode on your Android smartphone

To disable it, tap on the Incognito button in the top-right corner. Then tap on “Turn off incognito” option. While incognito mode is enabled on your app, you won’t have access to your subscriptions, YouTube chats, and notifications since it browses the app as an anonymous user and signs you out of your Google account. Incognito mode may be more appropriate to use when someone else is using your mobile phone to watch YouTube videos. This will ensure that the content they view doesn’t tamper with the recommended videos that show up on your account’s timeline. Incognito mode is also available on the YouTube website.
