One of my favorite childhood memories were of the video games I played. Are you born in the 90’s or the early 2000’s, then perhaps you have played a few of my favorites? Let’s take reminisce over the fun we had playing those games shall we:

Here is the list of the some of the video games.

1)      Mortal Kombat:

 This game was the reason of many sleepless nights, it was a game with usually two players where the winner stays and the loser pays. With enough punch and kick buttons to attack your opponent, you surely can be crowned a winner

The story behind the Mortal Kombat is about the Shaolin tournament for martial arts which have been used for ages as a competition of honor and glory. The Game itself had you traveling to the East China Sea to meet your destiny. You have to use your punches, kicks, and secret moves to knock your opponents flat on their backs. When you defeat an opponent you score points but when you finish your opponent you scored bonus points.

2)      Street Fighter:

Streetfighter may perhaps be a little more than 20 years old. Released in 1994,  Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game won many hearts, mine included.

The game had many names and hailed from different countries, each with the mission of defeating M. Bison, an evil tyrant and crimelord. The game encourages unlikely heroes whose life goals had to coincide with the path of honor.

You the player must control your element, have special combat abilities, undergo training and also hold a tournament. Remembering this game has me wishing for a game console in hand.

3)      Tetris(Game boy Series):

This was a puzzle video game that was released for Nintendo game boy. It was a simple game of you placing seven different shaped blocks that fall one after the other. The aim of the game was to keep the blocks from piling up to the top of the game field.  This game gave me a tough time trying to manipulate the blocks as they fall to fill in gaps.

4)      Super Mario:

“Ebi lo ma ku si, bo ya lo ma dele”, that soundtrack should remind you of this game that was everyone’s favourite. This was a high precision game. It told the story of a kingdom of peaceful mushroom people that were invaded by the Koopa, a tribe of turtles known for their black magic. The people were then turned into mere stones, bricks, and even horse haired plants. The only person who could undo the black magic was the Princess Toadstool, the daughter of the king of the Mushroom Kingdom, but she had been captured by the great Koopa turtle king. Mario heard about the plight of the Mushroom Kingdom and set out to save them, the player is then Mario, the hero whose quest is to save the princess and free the kingdom from the black magic.

5)      FIFA 2000:

A football game released in 1999 by PlayStation, may have caused the love of PlayStation that abounds across the nation. This was of course after Real Football and the International Super Star Soccer Deluxe that had glued the heart of Nigerians to football video game. FIFA 2000 is surely one of the joys of modern life.  The game itself was titled Major League Soccer.
