If you did not see the movie,
Rattle Snake, then you have missed out on one of the best movies to come out of Nigeria.
Pioneer
Rattle Snake was shot in 1994 when the movie industry in Nigeria was still at its teething stage, so the picture quality may not have been top notch, but not many Nigeria action movies today can beat the story rendition, the suspense and emotions that were aroused watching
Amaka Igwe’s
Rattle Snake.
Plot
Rattle Snake was Nollywood’s first ever attempt at producing an action movie and was said to be based on a true-life story. It tells the story of a young boy, Ahanna (
Francis Duru), who was lured into a life of crime and robbery after the death of his father. Eventually, he has to choose between honouring his best friend’s request for one last robbery or keeping his promise to Ann, his love, to abstain from crime. He is eventually betrayed by his friend and the movie ends with everyone wondering if Ahanna was killed.
Part 3 of
Rattle Snake was long anticipated. It was the key to knowing what had become of the character of Ahanna, and when it was eventually released, did not disappoint. It followed the story of Ahanna’s revenge on those who betrayed him.
The enthralling movie starred
Nkem Owoh, Ann Njemanze, Francis Duru, Bob Manuel, Ejike Methuselah, Ernest Obi, Julius Agwu, for many of whom it was their first movie feature.
Rattle Snake was directed by Amaka Igwe. The major themes explored by the movie include crime, love, betrayal revenge, and underscored the terrible effect of bad companionship.
