  The Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea have launched the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Program dedicated to young women scientists in Africa.

The UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Program 2025 is aimed at creating concrete career opportunities for young women to actively participate in various life science disciplines in Africa. Launched in 2024, the program aims to support and promote two exceptional young African women in the field of life sciences and seeks to “encourage their active participation in their countries’ scientific and technological development.”

Award:

Annually, two young African women will be awarded a grant of $25,000 each, with a total of $50,000, to promote their research and motivate a promising scientific career.

To be considered eligible for the program:

  • The applicant must be an African and will conduct research in a reputable laboratory in Africa.
  • The applicant must be below 45 years old during the application.
  • The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in the field of life sciences.
  • You must be actively involved in scientific research within the field of life sciences with a strong focus on advancing knowledge and contributing to sustainable development.
