On the 26th of October, 2013 Connectnigeria.com, Nigeria’s information portal hosted the first ever e-Business fair in Nigeria. With the theme being ‘’e-Business and the Growth of Your Enterprise’’, the aim was to help SMEs grow their enterprise using all the e channels, electronic payment, mobile money, e-commerce, mobile payments and the like. With a turnout of over two thousand visitors, the business fair included a forum and exhibition session where it had speakers, vendors, and exhibitions as well as after-sales relationship building. Present at the event were representatives from different financial and service institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, Microsoft, Diamond Bank Plc, Google Nigeria, Etranzact, and Pro Works. There were several prominent representatives from established organisations as well as keynote speakers such as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido whose keynote address was titled ‘’Importance of a Cashless Society to Economic Growth and Development in Nigeria”.
The informative and vibrant event also included a raffle where winners won prizes such as an Apple iPad, Hewlett Packard printer, and a portable Sony Play Station. As a result of the success and impact of the first e-Business fair, Connectnigeria.com will be holding another fair in October, 2014 where even greater events should be anticipated.
