  jogging   Jogging! The thought alone makes me yawn and i’m sure many of you share this sentiment however, once I looked at the positive health implications my views changed dramatically. Health and exercise are seemingly trending presently as I see people putting Ikoyi bridge to good use. Several people are jogging on it all times of the day and I strongly doubt it’s because they’re bored or going crazy. As the common saying goes, ‘Health is wealth’ therefore it is imperative that we keep our bodies or machines going. Below I have compiled some fun facts about jogging and its benefits.
  1. You can burn up to 150 calories by jogging 1 mile.
  2. Jogging enhances your High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol which serves as your defense against excess cholesterol which can prevent heart attacks.
  3. Jogging helps prevent diabetes which is caused by obesity and inactivity.
  4. Jogging helps lower blood pressure.
  5. Studies show people who run more than 50 miles weekly had greater decreases in body fat and triglyceride levels than those who ran less than 10 miles weekly.
  6. Running improves your aerobic fitness by increasing the activity of enzymes and hormones that stimulate the muscles and heart to work more efficiently.
  7. For effective results, you should run between  3-5 days a week for at least 20-60 minutes continuously.
