Good news around agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2019: The 5th edition features a record participation and will be the biggest ever. In connection with a strong institutional support both in Nigeria and internationally as well as an excellent conference program a successful show is guaranteed.
The event is organised by the German trade show specialists fairtrade Messe and it is scheduled for 26 to 28 March 2019 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.
Eight official country pavilions will be present at the 5th edition
of agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria on 26 to 28 March 2019 at
the Landmark Centre in Lagos. Namely from Belarus, China,
France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and
Turkey – a remarkable participation, the biggest ever! Plus
individual exhibitors from lots of other countries. Big names

fairtrade and DLG enter into strategic partnership: Since 2015 agro Nigeria has been organized by fairtrade as part of agrofood
Nigeria. Now DLG German Agricultural Society enters into
strategic partnership with fairtrade and brings in its agro and
trade fair expertise by introducing its AgroTech brand to the
agro event of fairtrade’s agrofood trade show. The focus of the
cooperation lies on crop production and animal production.

Eurotier, DLG is the global leader in professional trade fairs in
the fields of agricultural engineering, crop production, animal
production and bioenergy.

Double-digit growth: Nigeria invests heavily in its food
production as it increased its imports of food processing and
packaging technology in sub-Saharan Africa Nigeria’s imports of
food and packaging machinery by 15% in 2017. From 228
million euros to 262 million euros. This makes Nigeria the
second largest importer of such technologies in sub-Saharan
Africa. Nigeria‘s imports of packaging technology even increased
by 34% in 2017, from 113 million euros to 152 million euros.

growth is also forecasted for 2018 and 2019.

According to WTO World Trade Organization Nigeria’s food trade
sums up to a 5.916 billion US$ business in 2017. With imports
of 5.102 billion US$ and exports of US$ 814 million. As such
Nigeria is Africa’s largest food market.
plastprintpack Nigeria
The Country Cluster of EUROMAP-European Plastics and Rubber
Machinery confirms significant growth for Nigeria. The per
capita consumption of plastics in Nigeria has grown by about
5% annually over the past ten years, from 4.0 kg in 2007 to 6.5
kg in 2017 and is estimated to be 7.5 kg in 2020. Nigeria’s
plastics consumption has grown by 7.8% annually over the past
ten years, from 578 kt in 2007 to 1.229 kt in 2017 and is
estimated to be 1.533 kt in 2020. And the country’s plastics
production has grown by 13.9% annually over the past ten
years, from 120 kt in 2007 to 442 kt in 2017 and is estimated
to be 513 kt in 2020. Being the largest importer of plastics
technology in Sub-Sahara Africa Nigeria invests heavily in
its plastics industry. Its imports of plastics technology
increased by 70% in 2017, from 54 to 92 million euros.
Nigeria’s imports of printing & paper processing technology
summed up to 41 million euros in 2017. Its imports of
packaging technology increased by 34% in the same year, from
113 to 152 million euros. (VDMA)

presented valuable information on technology and finance.
