January seems to be on a long run. I’m sure you would have noticed too. I mean, we are already in the second week of the month and this speed is quite remarkable as we all know January to be one to take its time. Perhaps this is a “new decade, new me” thing for the month, we cannot conclude yet.

A town hall meeting is a forum in which stakeholders and enthusiast of a particular idea or opinion meet with renowned leaders in the sphere of influence to hear them on topics of interest or to facilitate discussions on policies, regulations and the progress of such idea or organization. Townhall meetings usually provide a platform for locales to interact with those in a place of authority or those who make decisions, it is usually a place of communication between those at the top of the power ladder and those at the middle and below the ladder that is affected one way or the other.
Last year, several town hall meetings were held especially in the tech space that required people from the tech ecosystem irrespective of what they contribute to the ecosystem as well as tech enthusiasts to interact with important personnel in tech startups and government parastatals. TechCabal held the most number of town hall meetings on the intersection of technology with other sectors of the society – education, transportation and mobility, renewable energy and health care.
Starting this year, Techpoint is hosting its first town hall meeting in 2020 with the President of Yale University, Peter Salovey, and other senior officials of Yale University, USA. The interaction will be to discuss what Yale has been doing that will ultimately inform some of the strategies that will take place in Africa and potentially open up opportunities for collaboration with the university.
The town hall meeting is an invitation to key leaders in the Lagos technology entrepreneurship ecosystem. This includes technology innovators and entrepreneurs, community builders and technology industry professionals who can contribute meaningfully to discussions about the state of technology entrepreneurship in Lagos and can also benefit from understanding Yale’s focus in Africa.
