He attended Command Day Secondary School in Oshodi, where he graduated in 2009 and obtained his WAEC certificate. When Swanky was in school, he was an excellent student and his parents never received any complaint about him. After secondary school, Swanky proceeded to the University of Lagos to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he moved to NYC to pursue art and earned a formal styling accreditation from the School of Style to become a designer. Not much information is known about Swanky’s parents because he has managed to keep his personal life away from the public. Swanky started his career as a celebrity fashion stylist with the launch of his brand, Swanky Signatures Styling, in June 2012. Since then, he has styled his clients for numerous red carpets and video shoots. His works have been featured in many magazines and publications. His career breakthrough came after styling Davido for the music video shoot of his 2012 song “All Of You” in New York. The song opened incredible doors for him in Nigeria and America. Swanky is not only a stylist but a designer and Image consultant. He has a long list of famous African artists standing in line for an appointment and paying thousands of dollars to him.

He has styled so many celebrities like: Darey, D’banj, Praiz, Davido,Tonto Dikeh, Ice Prince, M.I, Tu Face, Juliet Ibrahim, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Pearl Thusi, Pearl Modiadie, Sarkodie, Nyanda, AKA, not to mention numerous African presidents and first ladies. He has been featured internationally by CNN. In 2014, Swanky won Fashion Stylist of the Year at the Lagos Fashion Awards.In 2016, he won Male Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2020, he appeared on Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 list, which recognises 30 young entrepreneurs, leaders and change agents from Africa. When asked in an interview by Bellanaija, on what it takes to be a stylist, Swanky says: “It takes mental and emotional work, research and creativity. Being a stylist goes beyond throwing clothes on people. It’s about leaving a legacy, transforming people into fashion icons. By dressing somebody up, you’re responsible for the feedback they receive when they leave their house. So don’t get it twisted; it’s not easy”. As one of the youngest celebrity stylist in Nigeria, Swanky is used to career pressure. And there’s even more, because social media has boosted the fashion industry’s visibility.

His appearance in the Netflix reality show “Young, Famous & African” in 2022 skyrocketed his popularity. The reality series on Netflix features a group of young, affluent, A-list media personalities from South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. The seven-part series stars Swanky Jerry himself, Diamond Platnumz, Khanyi Mbau, Annie Macaulay Idibia, 2Baba, Zari the Boss Lady, Naked DJ, Andile Ncube and Kayleigh Schwark.
