The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is determined to break a 20-year-long spell that has stopped the Super Falcons from advancing into the quarterfinal round of the
FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The newly crowned
AITEO-CAF Women’s National Team of the Year, are expected to play about ten games before the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, which is scheduled to hold from
Friday, June 7, 2019 to
Sunday, July 7, 2019.
The Falcons will kick off their preparation with participation in the
Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in China, from January 17, to January 20. Hosts, China, Romania, and Korea Republic are the other teams billed for the four-day event.
Next, the Falcons will take part in the
Cyprus Women’s Cup, from February 25, to March 7, before they take on Spain or Canada in a pre-planned friendly game; and then move on to their final training camp in Austria, where they could play two more preparative games.
The series of games will help the
nine-time African champions, draw up the perfect game strategy for the world cup.
The NFF had earlier announced that the Falcons will have their final camping programme at the Avita Hotel and Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Austria — the same venue where the Super Eagles camped before their 2018
FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia.
