Nigeria’s early exit from the World Cup was quite gut-wrenching as the Nigerian senior men’s football team had fought hard to stay in the game and would have made it through to the round-of-16 with a draw against the Argentinians. However, the Argentinians made good on a late minute opportunity that saw defender, Marcos Rojo slot the ball past Super Eagles goalie, Francis Uzoho, upsetting the game until the final whistle. After 64 thrilling matches that brought the entire globe together and 169 goals that made fans go wild with excitement, the World Cup is, sadly behind us and only one team is seating on the Golden throne, France! The frenchmen defeated the very strong and energetic Croatian team 4-2, in what many have described as the most spine-tingling World Cup final ever. On their World victory, France was awarded $38 million, while Croatia received $28 million. Belgium, finishing in 3rd place got $24 million, while England in 4th also received $22 million. All the quarter finalists were paid $16 million each, and teams that crashed out in the round-of-16 all received $12 million each.
