MTN, Africa’s leading telecom company has introduced a new feature that allows subscribers to receive notification for calls missed while their phone was either switched off or out of network coverage.
This means that if someone calls while your phone is switched off (due to low battery maybe), or you are in an area with poor network coverage (let’s say you’re travelling), you’ll receive a missed call alert message from MTN when you’re back online. The message will include the phone number and time of call. The person that called you will also get a message after you come online, telling him that you’re now available on the network.
The missed call alert message will come with the phone number of your caller, so you should be careful not to discard it as a scam message.
You can subscribe to the service by texting ‘MCN’ to 131. The service is free of charge.
