2019 FIFA Under 17 World Cup Continues

The 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup commenced on October 26, 2019 has seen Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets witness a perfect start to the global tournament. A 4-2 victory over the Hungarian national U-17 team in the opening game, and 3-2 win against Ecuador in their second game has sealed a spot in the second round of the tournament for Nigeria with a game to spare. Today, November 1, 2019, the Eaglets will aim to wrap up their group stage games in perfect fashion when they confront Australia.

COPA Lagos 2019

This year, the COPA Lagos beach soccer tournament returns, marking its eight edition. The event is one of the top beach soccer showdown in Africa and will see 2013 champions, Nigeria, try to reclaim the crown with stiff competition from defending champions, Senegal, Beach Soccer World Cup winners, Brazil, England, among others.

Set to commence today, November 1st, 2019, and end on 3rd November 2019, the tournament will also feature a club competition for the best teams in Nigeria such as Kebbi BSC (a club that will feature in the World Winners Cup), Gidi Sharks, and Pepsi Academy. A Women’s and Men’s Celebrity Game will alsoy make the competition all exciting.

CAF Confederations Cup Playoff Rounds

Kick off

A 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy of South Africa in Aba on Sunday, October 27, 2019 placed Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba FC, in a favourable position towards advancing into the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup. The Rangers suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to AS KARA of Togo in the same date. Both Nigerian teams stand a big chance of making it to the group stage of the competition. All Enugu Rangers need is a 1-0 victory over their Togolese opponents in the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday, November 3, 2019, while Enyimba only needs a draw score line when they travel to South Africa for the return tie same day.

Lagos Women Run 2019

With the major aim of getting women to fitness through running, the Lagos Women Run, which is an initiative of the Gym Assured and MARRCOM, Road Race Company, also partnered by the Lagos State Government and other women organizations, will take place this month. It is an event organized to create awareness to the public about challenges confronting women in the society such as sexual abuse, Girl Child education, Family, and Gender equality.

The event is slated to hold on November 9, 2019, at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, with the run expected to end at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. Registration is currently ongoing and it is free.

2021 AFCON Qualifiers

Futaa

Qualification series for the 2021 African Cup of Nations slated to hold in Cameroon is set to commence this month. The Super Eagles will play host to the Squirells of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on November 13, 2019 before travelling to Maseru to confront Lesotho on November 17, 2019.
