No doubt Black Panther has been the biggest phenomenon in the global entertainment industry lately, and Nigerian born actress, Sope Aluko, who played the spiritual leader, Shaman in the Box Office blockbuster has now put ink to paper for another Marvel project. She will be part of the cast of Venom, Sony’s Spiderman spin-off.

The new Marvel movie, which is expected to be totally different from any previous movie in the Spiderman cinematic universe, will have Aluko starring alongside Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed, with Academy Award-nominated actor Tom Hardy playing the lethal protector, Venom. The Venom movie is scheduled to hit theatres, October 5th 2018, and will hopefully launch another profitable franchise for Sony.

Sope Aluko

Sope Aluko has appeared in major movies like Pitch Perfect 2 and Identity Thief, and has also scored recurring roles on several television series like NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, Parks & Recreation, and Netflix’s Bloodline, as well as special appearances on Army Wives, Burn Notice, Graceland and Starz’s Counterpart, released in December 2017. Sope Aluko will also join Oscar winner Sam Rockwell and Golden Globe winner, Taraji P. Henson on the big screen, in the true-life drama, The Best of Enemies, which will be released in 2019.   Image: Guardian Nigeria
