Osun Elections
On Monday, it was reported that Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2018 Osun election had been invited by the Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. According to the Police spokesman, Frank Mba, Senator Adeleke was arrested over ongoing criminal investigations regarding his person. This is coming after the Election Petition Tribunal ruled in favour of the senator after he had lost the Osun Governorship election to Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Adeleke has, however, been granted a N2m bail by the Magistrate Court in Mbape, Abuja.
Meanwhile, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Party (APC), has been afirmed winner of the 2018 Osun State Governorship election by the Court of Appeal. The court delivered this judgment after an election tribunal ruled in March 2019 that Ademola Adeleke won the election and not the Oyetola, the sworn-in candidate.
