President Emmanuel Macron Visits Nigeria
Last week, French President Macron embarked on a two-day visit to Nigeria during which he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa in Abuja, had a meeting with 2000 entrepreneurs under the Tony Elumelu Foundation, partied at Fela Kuti’s New Afrika Shrine, and attended the opening of the Alliance Franchise Headquarters in Ikoyi. This wasn’t the President’s first visit to Nigeria as he had interned at the French embassy 15 years ago. Alarm Raised Over Nigerian PVC On Chinese Website and INEC Responds
Earlier last week, alarm was raised over the “sales” of Nigerian Permanenent Voters Cards (PVCs) on Alibaba.com. A man took to his Twitter page to call attention to the anomaly and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Government to look into it. An 11-year-old boy, Kareem Olamilekan, left guest at the New Afrikan Shrine asthonished, after he drew a portrait of French President Emmanuel Macron in just two hours. The boy presented the portrait to the President at the Fela Kuti’s New Africa Shrine where a cultural showcase took place to announce the launch of the Season of Africa Cultural Season scheduled to hold in France in 2020.
