Democracy Day
Wednesday, June 12 2019, was Democracy day and Nigerians took the opportunity to reflect on the current situation of the country and their hopes for a better Nigeria. It may also go down as one of the most memorable days in Nigerian history as President Buhari used the platform to announce the renaming of the Abuja National Stadium as Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
As Nigeria marks Democracy Day today, how will you describe the nation's democracy in one word? #DemocracyDay

“The National Stadium in Abuja shall henceforth be known as the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.” — President @MBuhari, June 12, 2019 #2019DemocracyDay #DemocracyDay
— Presidency Nigeria (@NGRPresident) June 12, 2019
BREAKING: President Muhammadu Buhari just renamed the Abuja National Stadium to Moshood Abiola Stadium.
— Bashir Ahmad, OON (@BashirAhmaad) June 12, 2019
I believe that what we are celebrating today should be a challenge to the Government and the entire people of Nigeria to rededicate themselves to the struggle for genuine change. ~Femi Falana. #DemocracyDay

We shouldn't, after '26 years of June 12', be battling with those who are being detained without trial in our country. ~Femi Falana. #DemocracyDay
— Channels Television (@channelstv) June 12, 2019
As we celebrate Democracy today, let us always remember that #June12 epitomizes the unbreakable will of the people in the face of tyranny.

I congratulate Ndi Imo and Nigerians once again on this day.

Obasanjo built the Abuja national stadium from scratch between 1999-2003, today Buhari names it after Abiola, it is pertinent to note that from 2015 -2019 that Buhari served as president he has not built even "monkey post" football field or any major national monument.
— Hamma (@HAHayatu) June 12, 2019
Kudos to President Buhari for immortalising Chief MKO Abiola. Very commendable, and the right thing to do.
— Dr Dípò Awójídé (@OgbeniDipo) June 12, 2019
On this day 26 years ago, Nigerians elected Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola President. #DemocracyDay #DemocracyAt20 pic.twitter.com/0Plg4AYZ1p

2/2 Those who cheered as he promised an end to tyranny & corruption are today cheering tyranny, looting & impoverishing our citizens.
— Ayò-Bánkólé Akíntújoyè (@AyoBankole) June 12, 2019
Nigerians must unite against the stagnation of the majority by a few as was in ‘93.

“Any sacrifice is in order so long it brings democracy, peace and prosperity to Nigeria.” – MKO Abiola
— Dr Dípò Awójídé (@OgbeniDipo) June 12, 2019
Democracy Day! Today’s democracy day celebration is supposed to commemorate the late MKO Abiola but there was no single sign or poster of Abiola at eagle square, venue of the occasion. Is this a mere oversight or it was deliberate? It’s a shame. Together, let’s #RescueNigeria pic.twitter.com/dbK8cW6W4e

Those who want to celebrate Democracy Day on June 12, but revoked MKO Abiola's Oil Licence yesterday…
— Lere Olayinka – Aresa 1 (@OlayinkaLere) June 6, 2019
Make una KONTINU.
Buhari has revoked OPL 206, the Oil Licence belonging to MKO Abiola of Summit Oil, Pan Ocean Oil-OML 98 belonging to Festus Fadeyi, Allied Energy OML 120, 121 belonging to Kase Lawal, Cavendish Petroleum OML 110 owned by Gambo Gubio and Mai Deribe, and Express Petroleum OML 108
— Jackson Ude (@jacksonpbn) June 6, 2019
One of the questions that previous govt's have to answer is why they refused to honor Chief MKO Abiola and declare June 12th as the authentic Democracy Day?
— Femi Fani-Kayode (@realFFK) June 12, 2019
No matter what we may feel about @MBuhari at least he found the courage to do that whilst others failed.

Peruzzi vs. Pamilerin

Pulse.ng
Popular social media influencer Pamilerin Adegoke took to Twitter to narrate his alleged ordeal in the hands of singer Peruzzi. Pamilerin claimed he was about to leave Bayelsa for Lagos after an event when he was accosted by one of Peruzzi’s bouncer’s and subsequently slapped by the singer. Peruzzi has, however, responded with a tweet but also explained his own side of the story
Even for apology Peruzzi still featured Davido.
— Ichie Bullion (@principe_viii) June 10, 2019
Nigerians are very skilled at saying ‘sorry’ but telling you why they believe you deserve what they did to you. If your apology attempts to justify the wrong, don’t issue it. Smh. https://t.co/C1r0Sj3pkH
— Chidi Okereke (@Chydee) June 10, 2019
Peruzzi came down a few minutes after & whilst we were catching up about his great performance d nite before, d Protocol guys called for my attention.
— Denrele Edun (@DENRELE_EDUN) June 10, 2019
We all stepped outside to d car park & drifted apart.
Next minute, I heard d sound of a LOUD SLAP & ther wz commotion everywher*
You gave him real slap not Twitter slap. So you have to apologize to his face and not on Twitter. One Love ✌️
— BabyGirl 😇 MODULUX (@arewamiii) June 10, 2019
At least pamilerin only received slap. Peruzzi and Davido are the descendants of tmnt. beating people up is like a trait 😂 pic.twitter.com/lhMpjJ6cZy
