Desmond Elliot
This week, Desmond Elliot, was under fire for a statement he made about Nollywood during an interview. According to him, “Government has to ban the importation of foreign movies so that Nollywood can grow. Make it difficult for foreign content to come in, so your local content can grow”. Here is how Nigerians reacted to the statement

We did not ban Foreign Music for NG Music to grow Desmond Elliot. NG Music evolved, grew & today Wizkid & Co are in Beyonce's Album. If Nollywood can stop the constant fetishness, showing of bumbum & take their time to write creative story lines they"ll surely grow!!!

Desmond Elliot wants to reduce our brain to Talopa Chief.
— Ayo-olu (@aduraola_) July 22, 2019
I argued that its impossible for Desmond Elliot to say BS till I saw it. Banning foreign content in entertainment? To treat it like RICE?? And why that fake accent sounding like Pinky in Pinky& the Brain? Did India ban to grow bollywood? Did we ban to export Wizkid? Olodo rabata! pic.twitter.com/un5j3vd8U8

Desmond Elliot I hope you know Nigeria didn't need to ban foreign music for our sounds to be heard around the world now we have artistes breaking records and being part of million dollar projects. The problem isn't competition it's your movies that are cliché and mostly crap. https://t.co/kzOqFiFpbi

Desmond Elliot, nollywood problem is not foreign movies.

Nollywood problem is:
Piracy
Predictable storyline
Poor directing
Poor funding of movies
Godfatherism

Ministerial List
The release of President Buhari’s ministerial list was the highlight of the week as there were mixed reactions to it from Nigerians all over. While there were some laudable nominations like the inclusion of more women, the inclusion and exclusion of some names have generated varying reactions.
A leader is only as effective as the quality of his team.

Do you believe that President @MBuhari #MinisterialList will move Nigeria forward or backward?
I’m curious to know what you think.
LIKE for YES.
RETWEET for NO.
Buhari finally release #MinisterialList and Ambode is missing, that's impossible.

You stripped me off my throne and hand it over to Sanwo olu. #MinisterialList still come out I no dey there, kileshe mi gaaan ; pic.twitter.com/hZY1XSXRV4
Too bad Professor Isaac Adewale didn't make the list again. Would have loved to hear more of his ideas for turning medical graduates into tailors rather than consultants. But on the bright side, Ngige is there to remind us we have no shortage of doctors.#MinisterialList

Dear Buhari,

What is my offence? I cannot find my name on the Ministerial nominees list.
Please get back to me, don't be unfortunate.

They've turned ministerial appointment to governors' retirement scheme. These same people that failed their states for about 8 years have been appointed to fail the nation for d next 4. Sorry 4 Nigeria!!! #MinisterialList
— Ra's Al Ghul (@RajganDeGreat) July 23, 2019
Any Nigerian youth celebrating the newly released #MinisterialList sure has the lowest depth of low self-esteem. As a youth, there is nothing in there for you except crumbs off the floor. Anyway, all choices have consequences, this is yours to face.
— Royalty Uso👑 (@royaltyuso) July 23, 2019
There's nothing in this #MinisterialList that inspires hope. It's made up of mostly politicians. @MBuhari is big on rewarding political patronage. There's noting wrong with rewarding loyalty but sacrificing competence while doing that, is totally unacceptable.

Burna Boy’s New Album
Burna Boy is currently a sensation in Nigeria’s music industry. The “On The Low” crooner has been in the news lately for making good music, his charismatic mother, and his recently released album “African Giant”. There have been so many positive reviews about the album and Nigerians can’t just get enough of it:
Woke up because of purge, now I can’t go to bed. Listening to the African Giant album. 🔥 🔥 We can never unstan Burna boy.
