Get your pen, voices, pencils and laptop ready for the social media contest/challenge in the areas of Spoken Word and Artworks (photography, artistic drawing, and graphic design). This is organised by Leap Africa in collaboration with African Artists’ Foundation in order to commemorate the International Youth Day in Nigeria. International YOUTH DAY is commemorated every 12th of August with the theme “Youth Building Peace”. A day dedicated to the role of young people in preventing, transforming as well as sustaining peace. A day to reaffirm the important role youths plays in deterring and resolving conflicts. For spoken word, the competition draws inspiring, creative and impact-driven literary composition from youths across the country and use the resources as a springboard to promote youth-led peace campaign. While the Artwork challenge aims at encouraging peace by drawing stimulating and creative art works from youths across the country. The competition welcomes entries from different forms of artworks; paintings, photography, graphics design. Eligible youths are expected to follow LEAP AFRICA’S social media platform before submission, Submit entries by uploading their creative work on their personal Instagram page using the competition hashtags, #LEAPIYD2017 and #Youth4Peace and are to tag @LEAPAfrica on the post submission. Entries are expected to get at least 100 likes before they can be considered for reviews. One winner is selected from each category and is unveiled after one week after the competition. The winners receive: An internship or Mentorship Opportunity at Africa Artist Foundation, prizes also include LEAP African Youth Ambassador for a year and many more prizes.
