Nigeria abounds with enterprising individuals who have the capacity to reshape the economic landscape of the country. As a testament to this fact, Forbes Africa released its 30 under 30 lists of Africans doing well in four key categories: business, technology, creatives, and sports.
Henrich Akomolafe
Experience, they say, is the greatest teacher. It was through experience that Henrich Akomolafe learnt how to run his company Akotex Nigeria Limited.
At the tender age of 8, he co-founded one of the top-notch elevator manufacturing companies for high-rise buildings in Nigeria alongside his father.
As a young man, he took over the business which had already begun to decline. He had studied Computer Engineering in school but had to switch to a career in elevator manufacturing to better understand the business.
Armed with better knowledge and expertise on how to run a business of this kind, Henrich managed Akotex Nigeria Limited until it began to thrive.
Henrich is also the founder of BNR Engineering, a real estate and construction firm that caters to the average Nigerian by providing them with flexible payment plans.
Oginni Tolulope
Oginni Tolulope encourages the growth of agriculture in Nigeria through his company, Transfurd Limited. Prior to founding Transfurd, Tolulope was unemployed for many months. This ordeal inspired him to create a business that would address poverty and hunger in Nigeria.
Transfurd provides agricultural development, management service, farm setting up, farmland leasing and sales, and youth empowerment.
As part of his endeavours to promote agriculture, Tolulope owns 50 hectares of land in three different states which he cultivates for crops such as rice, maize, and cassava.
Last year, Tolulope’s business emerged as one of the winners of Connect Nigeria’s Top 100 emerging SMEs.
He has big goals and objectives for the furtherance of agriculture in Nigeria.
“My plan is very simple. For my food processing business, I want to have my processing plants across the 36 states of Nigeria which can employ over 1,000 citizens in each state. On the empowerment scheme, we plan to have empowered 5,000 farmers cutting across the rural farmers, youths and junior level students by year 2030,” he says.
