Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, will most likely give room to players in the national team’s lower caste to prove themselves when Nigeria meets Seychelles on March 22, in an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers fixture.
Although Nigeria has long qualified for the finals scheduled to take place in Egypt, the Eagles will yet face Seychelles in an inconsequential qualifier.
Rohr indicated that there was no need for him to front Nigeria’s best against Seychelles, so he would be giving other players an opportunity to represent Nigeria.
“We have already qualified for the tournament and so we will give some other players a chance. The players who have not had the chance to express themselves and we will have the opportunity to see what they can do.
“The match against Seychelles will not be easy because everybody believes it will be won easily. That is dangerous and its a trap sometimes” — Rohr
The Super Eagles gaffer also disclosed that this would be the perfect chance to measure the performance levels of some players in the first team who were out on injury, but have returned to training like defender, Tyronne Ebuehi.
After the Eagles face Seychelles in their final group game, the team will proceed to the on Egypt in another tune-up fixture in March.
