Nigeria is pitched in Group D alongside Egypt, Guinea Bissau, and Sudan, and Gernot Rohr is confident that early camping for the three-time African champions in Nigeria will afford them adequate preparations for the continental showpiece. Nigeria’s first game at the tournament is on January 11 against the Pharaohs and Rohr who has been the subject of heavy criticism over the dismal showing of the Super Eagles in recent times believes his charges will be ready when hostilities commence.

Rohr’s job is still hanging in the balance as pressure from fans and stakeholders mount on the Nigeria Football Federation to sack the German tactician, but he is focused on his job at the moment pending the decision of the NFF and has revealed that camp will open on December 28.
“My plan is for the team to camp in Nigeria in December and then play a friendly in the country before departing for Cameroon early where we have very good conditions to prepare in Garoua where our team is playing. We will be very, very well prepared. We need to be ready for the first match against Egypt in Garoua.”
However, Rohr admitted to being uncertain about his status as head coach of the West African side, saying: “But let us see if I can still decide if we are preparing. We will see.” Source; Complete Sports Featured Image Source: Punch Newspapers
