Roar! Lionesses Roar! D’Tigress

D’Tigress proved themselves dominators, and a formidable opponent to any team around the world after going through the tournament unbeaten and finally overthrowing the defending champions Senegal 65-48 to win the trophy and secure a ticket to represent Africa at the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain. Truly Africa’s giants. Following their win on Sunday D’Tigress were welcomed home by President Muhammadu Buhari who received the Champions of the 2017 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday morning. The President assured the team and officials of his support by rewarding each player of the team the sum of N1 million. The officials were not left out of this bonus as each of them got the sum of N500,000. The President commended the team on showing great sleight and cleverness in Mali, especially over the defending champions senegal. Nigeria is Proud of them. PMB also encouraged the team to go ahead to Spain and prove themselves once more to the world as not just giants of Africa, but world dominators.
