Telecom Subscribers and respective GSM networks are showing low enthusiasm towards the new mobile number portability process, weeks after its April 22 commencement,
Vanguard Newspaper has reported. The newspaper submitted figures representing portability requests, suggesting low enthusiasm by donor networks, from where subscribers want out, creating queues for receiving networks. It states that,
- Total no of porting requests so far: 4,659
- Total completed successfully: 2,456
- Total still in progress: 501
- Total failed: 1702
The figures prompted the Nigeria Communications Commission to hold an emergency meeting with the networks and look into reasons, sanctions and possible adjustments to required procedures. The newspaper said 60,000 porting requests are missing, and operators are requesting the NCC to investigate.
