Gradually the reading trend is slowing fading; it’s endangered like species of animal on the verge of extinction. Priorities have shifted grounds, a paradigm that it’s not beneficial to this present generation and the one next to come. Reading should be a daily routine, a part of one’s life and should be treated as essential like health is to our lives. Reading shouldn’t just be for specific phases or situations in one’s life, it should be a culture that is enacted to our daily living. The Essence of reading cannot be over emphasized. When you read, you have more time to think. Reading gives you a unique pause button for comprehension and insight, a moment of clarity. The mental activity includes keeping your memory sharp, your learning capacity nimble, and your mind basically hardier as you age. The act of reading every day helps in nearly every aspect of life. Reading It is a fundamental skill builder. Every good course has a matching book to go with it; it takes a habit of reading to excel in such. The act of reading goes beyond the four walls of a class room or library.

1. Enhanced Smarts
No matter what you want to do or become, you can’t do it without more knowledge. Reading is an excellent way to achieve that. Reading makes you smarter, and it keeps you sharp as you age. Readers improve their general knowledge, and more importantly are able to spot patterns quicker. If you can spot patterns quicker, your analytical skills receive a boost.
2. Builds your expertise and esteem.
Continuous reading makes you an expert in any discipline. Increasing your knowledge and expertise which makes you an authority, just like Prof. Wole Soyinka, Chidi Ochebe and more. This expertise translates into higher self esteem. Since you are so well read, people look up to you for answers. Your feelings about yourself can only get better.

It’s no secret that reading increases your vocabulary and improves your spelling. Incorporating such words to your daily spoken language can only make your writing better. Increased vocabulary is especially crucial for writers. All successful writers will tell you that in order to write well, you need to read. A beefier vocabulary isn’t just for writers though. Knowing what other people are saying and using the perfect words to convey your feelings is a critical part of being a better human

By reading more books and exposing yourself to new and more complete information, you will also be able to come up with more creative ideas. When stumped with a problem, there are solutions to all problems; a lot are buried in the lines of good books. It comes from discipline and flipping the pages.
5. Helps prioritize goals
Your goals are being prioritize, the more you read it leads to an inner self discovery, creating a sense of direction. Prioritization puts you in a quest of knowing more, keeping you focus to your goals.
6. It helps you earn and save money
Research from National Center for Education Statistics found that adults with low levels of literacy were three times more likely to be below the poverty level than adults who could read well. The benefits of reading far outweigh the costs. In my entire life, I have never heard that more knowledge hurts. Beyond the benefit listed above reading makes you save and earn money. Saving money can make you become a better planner (strategic planning) because of the knowledge acquired from books. It enhances your technical know-how, in other words saves you money from unnecessary expenses and makes a better manager of funds.
