Nigeria tops Group C with 9 points but is closely chased by second-placed Cape Verde on 7 points as both sides look to book a spot in the next round of qualifiers. The big news on the Super Eagles list is the return of Odion Ighalo who retired after emerging as the highest goal scorer at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. Gernot Rohr said Ighalo’s experience is vital in Nigeria’s quest to book a World Cup ticket alongside having a nice outing at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. Samuel Chukwueze also returns to the squad after a lengthy injury layoff. Nigeria will confront the Liberian national team at the Grand Stade Tangier, Morocco on Saturday, November 13, 2021, before flying back to Lagos to play host to Cape Verde in what might be the Group decider at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, November 16.
